Illiquid Labs

When we met the Illiquid Labs team in late 2013, they had built a unique NFT trading platform in the Terra ecosystem. The retro 8-bit style resonated with crypto fans. But new users found it hard to use, and even regular users struggled with core features: listing NFTs, making offers, and using raffles and loans. Our goal was to keep the personality and improve clarity and usability across the product.

We redesigned the explore and listing experience so users can browse NFTs, filter by collection and status, and understand what each listing is looking for. The marketplace supports peer-to-peer trading, raffles, and NFT-backed loans. We made these flows easier to discover and use without losing the platform's character.

We mapped and simplified key flows: picking NFTs, trade details, visibility settings, and confirmation. Wireframes and flow diagrams helped us test structure before applying the full visual system. That reduced friction for listing, making offers, and using loans and raffles.

We defined a clear color system for light and dark themes: primary and status colors (success, error, warning), neutral scales for text and backgrounds, and consistent button and component states. This gave the product a solid base so new screens and flows would feel coherent and accessible.

The design system and components translate across desktop and mobile. Filters, dropdowns, and listing flows work consistently so users get the same experience whether they trade on a large screen or on the go.

A clearer, more consistent NFT marketplace that keeps the retro 8-bit feel while making it easier for new and existing users to trade, list, and use raffles and loans. The design system and updated flows support future features and a better experience across desktop and mobile.
